Crew
The crew of Finaddict all share a passion for the ocean, teaching others to fish, and the joy of sharing all that is found on the Santa Barbara Channel. We are experienced fisherman and sailors. Your safety and comfort is our number one concern. And most of all we think that a day on the ocean beats a day of just about any other activity in the world.
Captain Jim grew up in Long Beach, California. He began fishing with his father when he was 6 years old. His first job at the age of 13 was a deckhand on a charter boat in San Pedro, CA. At that time he and his father were close friends with a charter boat captain in Santa Barbara. Jim would come to Santa Barbara during the summer months to work as a deckhand on the Santa Barbara charter boat – Robinette. He has been fishing the waters of the west coast for more than 50 years.

Captain Jim moved to Santa Barbara in 1973 to work in a local hospital. He is a retired certified Perfusionist and retired registered Respiratory Therapist and holding a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration. The move allowed him to pursue his fishing passion; fishing as much as possible in Santa Barbara since then.

He worked hard and obtained his 100 ton Master USCG Captain’s license in 2001. Although Captain Jim has owned boats most of his life, it was always his dream to build an offshore fishing charter boat. In 2005, his dream came true and he launched Finaddict. Finaddict is a mixture of his experience with larger boats and smaller custom boats. The boat was designed from his vast experience gained on many boats over his life. The outcome is one of the greatest 6 passenger offshore charter boats on the coast. The goal of our trips is to provide a safe, fun, enriching, comfortable and enjoyable trip.
Joe started fishing with his Dad and brothers at age 8 on the Great South Bay and Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island. At 13 he started working in a fish market for 5 years. He later worked for a boat building company performing fiberglass work building sailing and fishing vessels. Joe moved to the West Coast in 1978 and has fished and sailed the Channel Islands since he arrived. In 2000, he began fishing and doing deckhand work with Captain Jim. In 2014 Joe retired from his career as a Tax Accountant. He continues to enjoy working on the Finaddict as Captain Jim's full time Deckhand. So with over 50 years of experience, Joe is eager to help you make the most of your fishing adventure on Finaddict!
